Mounting Guide / Guide de montage

EN — How to lock your bike effectively with the DX1000

The DX1000's locking area (20.6 cm × 11.2 cm) is sized to secure a frame tube and rear wheel together through a fixed object. Follow these steps for maximum protection:

1. Frame + rear wheel attachment (recommended)
Pass the shackle through the rear triangle of the frame and through the rear wheel (inside the rim), then around a fixed, immovable object (ground anchor, rack post, or signpost). Engaging both the frame and wheel in a single lock pass removes the wheel as a quick-release vulnerability.

2. Awkward low position — why it matters
Position the lock body as low and as close to the ground as possible. A low lock body leaves minimal clearance for a grinder or lever, making sustained attack significantly harder. Avoid leaving the lock suspended freely in the air.

3. Correct orientation
Mount the lock with the keyway facing downward or toward the ground. This limits access to the lock cylinder and reduces the working angle available to an attacker.

4. When to add the BR1000 bracket
If you carry the DX1000 on your bike rather than in a bag, the Hiplok BR1000 frame bracket mounts the lock securely to your frame tubes. The bracket is compatible with standard round and oval tubes and prevents rattling during rides.
